| In light of the recent arrest of Southern Indiana recruit Nick Evans school officials are expected to announce that they are changing their mascot name from the Screaming Eagles to the Screaming Thugs. As one unnamed official said "this thing has been years in the making but we feel with our track record the time has come to make the switch". Not to be outdone however word out of Owensboro is that sttorneys representing the college are preparing to file trademark petitions to change the name of the school to Thug U. "We pulled Cardell McFarland right out from under their noses. If anyone should have a claim to the use of the name Thug it is KWC." Stay tuned as these bitter rivals spill over into the court room as USI and KWC battle to see who has the right to the claim of most criminal activity. |

Wow...another embarrassment for USI. SIU transfer and presumed starting center Nick Evans is arrested for aggravated battery of a police officer. If that's true, I'm not sure how Watson can put him on the roster. He can't afford something like that right out of the gate after the Herdes debacle.
Anyone from USI still around here? Sir Beef? Can't wait to hear the spin on this one. |

He was neither enrolled or "signed" to USI. He wont be on the team. The difference is no one cares or knows outside of the Motel confines about Kitten athletics, so any person with any connection to the free breakfast will never be reported about because it doesnt sell newspapers or get TV ratings.
However when you win titles, pile 10k in to see you play a game, get voted banned and lose a player to death and still go 24-3, get your own TV network that covers Three States and 40 counties, people care.
Drury "stud" Smith could have been caught in that bathroom with George Michael and no one would have known or cared, so it would have never been published or revealed to the public.
You werent voted out of the tourney before it started, played in the weakest conference division in D2. so whats the Kittens excuse for another Flop season? _________________ RIP Jeron Lewis 1988-2010 |

Watson had offered a scholarship and Evans had committed to play at USI. He hadn't enrolled yet because he was taking a summer class at SIU he needed to be eligible. This is from the Evansville newspaper barely 4 weeks ago:
http://www.courierpress.com/news/2010/jul/02/evans-hopes-transfer-boosts-career-at-usi/
| Quote: | Evans has committed to play for the Eagles and Watson, who recruited him when he was an assistant in Carbondale, pending the completion of a course at SIU he needs to become eligible.
"Nick is taking a class at SIU," Watson said. "He has signed, and so he's got to finish this class. If it works out and he gets eligible, he's going to be a good player for us." |

Another classic, semi-incoherent babbling. You're right....DU's program draws such little interest that it just raised enough private money to build one of the nicest arenas in all of D2. No one cares, though. Great point.
Btw, I must have missed it...what did you win last year? For that matter, what have you won in the past 4 years? All I remember is a lot of talk about how you were going to be the "regular season" conference champion and put up a "mini banner" (whatever that is). How'd that work out? |

Basically one guys family cared. The Oreillys. They put up most of the money. NKUs arena is far superior than what your attempting to build by the way. Glad you have One of the best arenas in D2, i guess people can show up to look at it because your team certainly isnt one of the finest. You had the same chance at a title as USI did last year, and you werent even banned.
Like ive said many times. Wear your Drury basketball tshirt in anytown USA, and people will think either you work at the motel and they sponsor your ball team, or the motel sponsors your local park and rec outfit. They have no clue as to a NCAA institution of such name. Have USI on and they will talk about Pearl, "powerhouse", winning, and the worst thing that usually happens is they confuse it with ISU and say Larry Bird.
Do a Lexis Nexis search of news stories about USI basketball during just the past 5 years, its almost 400 to 1 on the Kittens. _________________ RIP Jeron Lewis 1988-2010 |

The amount they put up was around half. There was $6 million of other private money that was given by, I'm sure, people who don't care.

You're getting "bigger" confused with "superior" - nothing in that building will be "far superior" to what DU is building. The only major difference between the two is that the BoK Center has about 8,000 seats that will never have anyone sitting in them. However, I can see why you'd get the two confused being that you play in a glorified high school gym.

It's a good thing for your ego you were banned. It allows you to think you actually might have won something. You didn't even win your division of the conference. Were you banned from that as well?
Besides, you act like being banned from the post-season just happened by accident. It didn't...your program cheated and got caught.

Riiigghhtttt....USI is a household name nationwide. That's why on Bruce Pearl's bio on the Vols website they have to explain that USI is "a D2 school in Evansville". Boy, you'd have thought everyone would know that already....the only reason anyone outside the tri-state area knows about USI basketball is that they just got caught cheating and, unfortunately, that they had a player tragically die on the court. Oh, and the folks in Ohio know you as the team that the "Kimbo Slice of D2" used as a whipping boy the last time you made the NCAA tournament. |

Itll be fun to see "The Extras arent Extra" on the back your warm ups when you visit " the glorified high school gym". Your Kitten boys can walk out in the lobby and see what NCAA hardware looks like while they are at it too. _________________ RIP Jeron Lewis 1988-2010 |

Don't you mean a National Title "mini banner"?
It's not $6 million. It's $13 million with the O'Reilly's kicking in half. The $6 mil is what all those other "people that don't care" donated. Try to keep up.
And, btw, there will be a National Title banner hanging in the O'Reilly Center, just as there has been in Weiser Gym for the last 30 years. Go ahead and say it doesn't mean anything....then call Dennis Rodman, Scottie Pippen, and Terry Porter and inform them they could've been good if only they'd have played in a "real" division of college basketball.

You took 20 minutes to think about it and came back with this? You must have been the guy that came up with the highly original "Physical Activities Center" name.
That sounds like somewhere a 5th grader goes for PE. |

In talking to Dr Matthews Monday he said that with the F,F&E, the plaza and the new landscaping it will be right at $14.5 million. He also said that they just got some additional commitments that fund it up to $14.5
So make that $8.5 million raised from those uncaring boosters. BTW there are more D2 National Championship Banners hanging at Drury than any other school in the GLVC. We have hung four in the last two years and you have hung just one in that same time period. |

No one cares about your Coed doublestiddlewink titles. How many NCAA Mens Basketball titles do you have?.................................................................................................................birds chirping.......................................................
OK how many title games have you been to?....................................................................................................................................birds, crickets, chirping...............................................................................................................ok e8's?...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Please. Quit coming in here with all that money talk. You can play in the rose Garden and have all the money in the world. Congrats. But NO "0" titles. How was that tourney run last year. O h thats right, even with USI banned and playing in the weakest conference division in D2, you still didnt make the field. Maybe more money will get you there. Maybe. _________________ RIP Jeron Lewis 1988-2010 |

Th fifth grader might go there for PE and he will see a national championship and multiple runner up hardwares or he could go to Druy Inns 15 million dolla digs and see nothing and tired excuses for flop seasons. Drury will be the guy in D2 with a Lamborghini in his driveway, but no engine in it. Congrats. _________________ RIP Jeron Lewis 1988-2010 |

Drury. maybe the NCAA should just award you a national title since you have so much money and a nice new arena. Your like the Atheist when he dies, all dressed up and nowhere to go. Congrats. _________________ RIP Jeron Lewis 1988-2010 |

Dont throw those names around trying to validate a 30 yr old NAIA banner. Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, kevin Garnett, Darryl Dawkins. didnt even play ball above high school. So I guess Calbert Cheaney, Walter McCarty, Chris Lowery, and Kevin Hardys 1990 Ishaa Sectional now equals a College Final Four?
Oh but you got money. Congrats. _________________ RIP Jeron Lewis 1988-2010 |
