| Texas A&M-Commerce's Jordan Earns Monthly WBCA Honor 02-05-2009 |
ATLANTA-Texas A&M-Commerce guard Britney Jordan has been named Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) NCAA, Division II National Player of the Month for January. In the month of January, Jordan averaged 32.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.6 assists per game, while shooting 44.3 percent. She scored a career-high 53 points against Abilene Christian on January 3 to set the Lone Star Conference scoring record. In 10 games in January, Jordan posted four 30-point outings, including scores of 47, 39 an 35, in addition to her 53-point contest. She scored in double-figures with at least 21 points in the other six games, including two double-doubles. On Jan. 14, Jordan broke the Texas A&M-Commerce career scoring record and now has 1,808 points to date. Against Texas Women's on Jan. 21, she had a near triple-double with 39 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. Jordan currently leads the Lone Star Conference and NCAA Division II in scoring with 30.5 points a game and is third in assists (5.5 apg) and steals (2.6 spg) and 11th in rebounding (6.8 rpg) in the LSC.
